A metà degli anni ’90 avevo giusto 15 anni ed essere stata un’adolescente in quel periodo significa una sola cosa, aver visto almeno 5 volte al cinema Titanic. Certe immagini ti rimangono scolpite nella mente e quel capitano affranto, davanti al camino che attende la morte sulla nave è una scena straziante, drammatica e dannatamente romantica. Poi è arrivato lui, Schettino, a dare l’ennesima spallata alla virilità maschile e al mito del capitano forte e moralmente ineccepibile. Premettendo che sono dispiaciuta per le morti e i dispersi, a me questo Schettino fa proprio cadere le braccia, ecco diciamo così. Una ragazza come me si aspetta che sia il Capitano, da quello Findus, a quello di Love Boat per terminare con Jack Sparrow, sia un vero eroe, il “superman” della situazione.
Forse il comportamento di Schettino un po’ riprende quello di molti uomini in circolazione, non più protettivo, ma confuso, indeciso, codardo, bugiardo ed egoista. Mettiamo anche che è pure un po’ colpa nostra che siamo diventate più forti, desiderose di indipendenza e aggressive, ma almeno il capitano deve comandare, sopratutto in una situazione del genere. Insomma Schettino, che delusione e noi che crediamo sempre alle favole del passato, ma non ditemi che se quelle favole venissero riscritte cambierebbe il finale e il principe sul cavallo tirerebbe dritto davanti a Cenerentola o che sulla porta di legno ci resterebbe Jack, lasciando ibernare Rose nel mare gelido.
